For already three years Sumy National Agrarian University has been an official partner of Development Program of the United Nations “Community Based Approach to Local Development” and has been part of the Education Network to promote sustainable development.
The year 2016 was the most efficient both in cooperation with the National Coordination Centre and with the Sumy Regional Resource Center for community development. All events organized were held within the program that was developed during the meeting of the coordinators of university resource centers at the beginning of the year.
The team of SNAU Resource Center was a participant at debate tournaments that took place in Odessa and Vinnytsya. The experience gained helped the girls get an international grant from the Czech Development Agency to create a university debate club.
In April, the university held a week of sustainable development, during which activists organized flash mobs, planted trees, filmed a video clip, pasted stickers about the need to save water and electricity.
There was also an active cooperation with Sumy Regional Resource Center. Together they organized several visits of university and college students of SNAU to the communities where the project “Community Based Approach to Local Development” is implemented. SNAU organized seminars on energy efficient technologies and cooperation.
This is not an exhaustive list of everything that has been done in the framework of the Community Development Resource Center of SNAU. However, all activist of sustainable development hope and will do everything possible for the next year to be even more productive.
