The participants were represented by the heads and specialists of structural units on agricultural development of the regional state administrations, chief livestock-breeders and stock-breeders of the leading dairy and research farms and research institutes from Sumy, Chernihiv and Poltava regions, representatives of breeding enterprises (stations of artificial insemination), the suppliers of the genetic products, SNAU teachers, scientists of the leading research institutions, etc.
The workshop participants welcomed the Deputy Head of Sumy Regional State Administration Mykola Podopryhora, Deputy Academician-secretary of the Department, Corresponding Member of NAAS of Ukraine Ostap Zhukorskyy, Deputy Director of the Institute for Breeding and Genetics of NAAS of Ukraine Yurii Polupan, Rector of SNAU Volodymyr Ladyka.
Mykola Podopryhora, the Deputy Head of Sumy Regional State Administration,spoke on the cooperation of science, business and government.
Ostap Zhukorskyy spoke about measures taken by the National Academy of Agricultural Sciences to develop milk production in Ukraine.
The Deputy Director of the Institute for Breeding and Genetics of NAAS of Ukraine Yurii Polupan informed about the advantages and disadvantages ofcattle breeding, the risks and reservations.
Rector of SNAU, Academician of NAAS of Ukraine Volodymyr Ladyka made a report “The formation of the desired type of the body structure in the highly productive cattle breeding”. He stressed that the key to the successful cultivation should be to create optimal conditions for keeping and feeding calves from the very first hours after birth.
